Alarm Central gets on board with ECV (enhanced call verification)
Beginning April 1, 2007 Alarm Central will be sending out letters to all of our dealers encouraging them to join us in the effort to reduce false alarms. Many municipalities have either gone to no-response or ECV. What is ECV and how does it work? ECV stands for Enhanced Call Verification and requires that the central station make a second call to a number not at the location of the alarm before dispatching. Many municipalities have already made ECV a requirement, most recently Leawood, KS. Jim Cogswell the Leawood Alarm Coordinator is reporting a 20% reduction of false alarms within the first month and some cities across the country are reporting reductions as great as 40%. Alarm Central will not require our dealers to use ECV unless there is an ordinance in effect where the system is installed, however it is our goal to educate all of our dealers on ECV.

Alarm Central keeps ahead of UL requirements
In the near future UL will require that any central station that monitors over 25,000 active accounts will be required to have three servers. On February 23, 2007 Alarm Central activated our third server in anticipation of the upcoming UL requirement. What this does for our dealers is provide yet another layer of redundancy by having a back-up server to the back-up.
